Studies Options

I wrote to my previous university, RMIT, where I had completed my Masters in 2002, for credits exemption should I take up a DBA or PhD program with it. I was told that I will be given research units exemption as I did my Masters by research previously.

I was glad to know that RMIT could give me credits exemption, except that the DBA/PhD with RMIT will take between 4 and 6 years to complete and is also more expensive than the one offered by UniSA (2.5 years to complete and is cheaper). Unfortunately, UniSA does not want to give me any credit exemptions. :(

I seriously wondered if there is any purpose for me to study more, unless I am too bored, and have too much time and money to spare. Hmmn... I don't think so. I will be busier once I have set up the whole organization structure for the organization I am working with now. I am more relaxed at the moment because it is still new and things are moving at a slower pace because of the registration process. Not so, comes next month onward. In addition, I am also in the process of forming the women's support group for my Church. So no more time left for myself....

Well, at the end of the day I need to know what God wants me to do. Life is short and I want to live it to the full within God's purpose for me. :)

EdD Study Stopped

It's been 1.5 years since I last blogged here as I had decided to drop my EdD study in late 2005 due to a few reasons:
  1. Very tight working schedule. I usually left my office between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m on most weekdays.
  2. Completing the EdD study would only make me even more 'over-qualified' to most employers in the education industry, unless I wish to work as a Professor or Lecturer in the universities, which has got low staff turnover rate, meaning I will have less chance of joining one.
  3. The local agent representing my uni changed 3 times within my 2 years of study.
  4. My uni Supervisor didn't correspond much with me and he took a long time to reply my email. He was due for retirement.

Well, after resting for such a long while, my mood for studying returns now. Now I am seriously considering doing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) to help me to be more effective in my new job role. In my new role, I carry a very heavy responsibility of ensuring business profitability for the whole organization, though it is a non-profit one. I feel that the DBA study will help me perform better as I will be able to put into practice what I would have learned in my research studies. I can also use my work experiences to write my research paper.

So all my wishes in My Wish List didn't come through, except for wish #2 (SE K750i). I hope this time round I can fulfill all my wishes by early 2010 (2.5 years from now if I were to join the Sept 07 intake).
